The Elios 2 is characterized primarily by the protective structure around its body. Combined with position and distance sensors, it can fly through almost any tight space unscathed.

Compared to the Elios 1, it has a fixed protective cage and the drone’s cameras are placed directly on the frame of the protective structure. Thanks to this solution, there is no collision between the elements of the protective cage and the camera shots, which is a great advantage during inspections.

Elios 2 can use its sensors to measure its distance from objects. Another feature is the “distance lock” option, which allows us to fly at the same distance from an object.

This capability is important for us during inspections and subsequent 3D modeling.

Thanks to all the sensors and the application that comes with Elios 2 to process the inspection images, we are able to generate the required number of frames and flight path from the video without using GPS.

After that, we just need to set the processing parameters correctly and we can generate a 3D model of the object that was inspected.

For example, we have beautiful results from scanning one of the corridors of the Pilsen Historical Underground.
